Title: Instructional Designer (Contract)

Location: Remote

Availability: Normal working hours (9 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST) with flexibility as needed

Rate: $65 – $80/hour; depending on scope of work

Software/Licenses Needed: Articulate Storyline 360 and Articulate Rise 360 preferred

We are seeking Instructional Designers to join our growing contractor pool.

This individual will work with Ardent team members to create web-based training (WBT) courses, instructor-led training (ILT) materials (in-person or virtual (vILT)), and supporting materials following Ardent’s instructional design process. This individual will be client facing, presenting and collaborating with client team members throughout the project. Our ideal candidate will use strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video, and audio — communicating and educating our clients’ employees, customers, and other stakeholders.

These positions are temporary (contract) roles with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed; work can be done remotely with personal equipment and software.

In This Contract Role You Will:

  • Develop content outlines and design documents; create scripts and storyboards for various delivery methods
  • Create learning objectives that align to key organizational/departmental/performer objectives.Present course design and materials to internal and client team members and incorporate feedback.
  • Attend and actively participate in all client and Ardent project-level meetings.
  • Develop WBT courses in Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise 360, or other platform as required by the client.
  • Ensure that the courses meet the learning objectives and make necessary adjustments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience 

  • At least 5 – 7 years of experience as an Instructional Designer
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, English, Instructional Design, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in the following areas is a plus: automotive OEMs/dealerships, digital transformations, system implementations, new technology adoption, and change management initiatives

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong client services experience
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Solid knowledge of course development software (e.g., Articulate Storyline 360 and Articulate Rise 360) and at least one Learning Management System
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A high level of understanding of project management principles
  • Automotive industry experience a plus
