Summary Description:

The Automotive Instructional Writer will report into the Director, Instructional Design and support the development of client solutions and strategic needs/requests. Through strong collaboration and consultation with the client and the Instructional Design team, the Automotive Instructional Writer will apply creativity, innovation, and passion for the automotive industry and learning to support best-in-class learning programs and solutions. Through guidance from the Director, Instructional Design, this role will support various stages of the project lifecycle (i.e., analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). They will be responsible for understanding the business needs of our clients, and delivering quality work with support from the broader Ardent team. The Automotive Instructional Writer is a subject matter expert in the automotive retail space – ideally with experience in both sales and aftersales.

In This Role You Will Provide:

Instructional Design/Writing:

  • Develops course outlines and design documents; creates scripts and storyboards for various delivery methods for our clients
  • Attends project-specific meetings with internal and client teams for all assigned projects/programs
  • Participates in collaboration meetings with contract IDs and creative staff to support graphic/visual development
  • Works directly with the client to design and develop courses that support learning needs
  • Designs and develop courses that support the learning needs of our clients
  • Presents course design and materials to internal and client team members and incorporates feedback
  • Validates, delivers, and evaluates the final training program and/or job performance product
  • Ensures that the courses meet the learning objectives and makes necessary adjustments
  • Designs and develops performance measures for our clients’ learning programs
  • Recommends appropriate learning strategies based on client priorities/objectives and learner needs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience: 

  • At least 5-7 years proven experience working in the automotive industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Organizational Development or related field or equivalent years of experience preferred
  • Prior experience in instructional design working with instructional technology such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, and other authoring tools preferred
  • Knowledge of adult training, learning theories and instructional design models preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proven knowledge of the automotive industry
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with clients
  • Knowledge of course development software (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Captivate) and at least one Learning Management System preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A high level of understanding of project management principles
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with various client contact types
  • Capacity to flex to various client needs to create/maintain relationships and achieve success
  • Visual design aptitude and ability to storyboard
