Director of Project Management

Rochester, New York, United States Full-time

We are seeking a Director of Project Management to join our growing team.

As the functional leader of Ardent’s Project Management Office (“PMO”), this individual will be responsible for the overall performance, resourcing strategy, vendor management, project delivery quality and governance across engagements and teams at Ardent.

Ardent has a long history of successful project management. With our growth in recent years, it is time for us to get more organized around our project management strategy and standards. We’re seeking an energized leader to take on that effort!

In this role, you will…

  • Increase the maturity (through definition and promotion) of Ardent’s Project Management best practices to fit our project lifecycle model.
  • Ensure all client engagements adhere to defined project governance structures, tailored to the client, for successful delivery of Ardent’s solutions along our project lifecycles.
  • Lead Ardent’s resource management strategy and function, ensuring all internal resources are allocated appropriately across current and future engagements (both external and internal).
  • Oversee Ardent’s vendor management strategy and function, working directly with our Solutions/Account Teams to ensure we have a consistently balanced pool of contractor talent to support the resourcing demands of our engagements.
  • Look for opportunities to continuously improve the tools we use, the processes we follow and how we communicate internally and externally.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation standards and usage of cloud-based collaboration tools.
  • Lead, develop and mentor Ardent’s project management team.
  • Alongside Ardent’s Employee Experience Manager, set standards for professional development growth for Program Managers, Project Managers and Project Coordinators at Ardent.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You’ve got what it takes if you have…

  • Theoretical and practical project management knowledge grounded in a service mentality.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, risk management and change management.
  • A leadership style that promotes collaboration and communication amongst a large, geographically dispersed team.
  • Strong resource planning and vendor management background.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field, Masters degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Project management certification (PMP, CAMP).
  • 3 – 5 years successfully leading a Project Management Office and managing a team of Program Managers, Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
  • 7+ years’ experience as a Program or Project Manager leading complex engagements.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Deep understanding of Project Management best practices.
  • Well versed in Change Management.
  • Comfortable working in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools (Smartsheets, Microsoft Project and Planner).
  • Ability to travel to Ardent office locations and client sites to support project teams or conduct pre-/post-engagement quality meetings as needed.
